Boating Thoughts

Denizen of the Forest

Due to New Zealand's isolation, its native wildlife lacks the large land mammals found elsewhere. True, before the arrival of man New Zealand was home to the huge Moa bird, but once man arrived here these were soon wiped out, and man and his familiars have continued to destroy a number of specialised bird species in this country over time.    New Zealand's native wildlife consists of birds, lizards, frogs, snails and insects, and land mammals are represented solely by native rats and bats. But the indigenous wildlife we do have is very special indeed.

I have many more introduced species to add - Red Deer, Sika and Fallow Deer, Sambar and Rusa Deer, Chamois and Wild Pig. I am also planning many more paintings of New Zealand's indigenous fauna - awesome birds, frogs, bats, snails, lizards and insects, so please stay tuned to this page.

The introduced species should be all added within the next week because
I already have all the artwork. The natives will take a little longer, but I promise they will be worth checking back for!
