Original Acrylic: "Tama Lakes"
|
Tama Lakes are
two volcanic lakes that lie alongside Mount Ngauruhoe on
New Zealand’s Central North Island Plateau – a great wonderland with two active volcanoes, one huge blasted-out volcano remnant and, of course, Lake Taupo - created by probably the biggest volcanic eruption in history.
This area of our country holds a huge fascination for me. I’d like to live closer to it – but then, we can’t live everywhere! Ah me !!
This is a
sketch that I was about to turn into a painting
when I got asked to illustrate a book just over a year
ago. That job involved a lot of painting the NZ
outdoors, and when the book launches in late December,
36 new artworks will be on display. Maybe when the dust settles, I'll get down to "Tama Lakes".
Acrylic on paper. 10.5" x 8".
