Ferns carpet the floor of a West Coast pine forest. They are most likely to be the beautiful Crown Fern - Blechnum discolor - which in addition to its stately upstanding habit, has young fronds of a very beautiful light green that contrast with the older, dark green fronds. A forest floor carpeted with this fern is an unforgettable sight.
