Original Acrylic: "Mts Ngauruhoe and Tongariro"
|
Looking north from Ruapehu's slopes across to Mt Ngauruhoe and behind it the blasted-out top of Mt Tongariro.
All that is left now of Mt Tongariro is a series of huge craters and a "summit" at 6458 feet.
I celebrated a birthday some years ago at the trig on the top with a group of guys and a bottle of wine.
I must say the weather on that day was nothing to write home about - cold, mist, rain and high winds, and we hot-footed it back off the summit once the mandatory photographs had been taken and the wine drunk - didn't take long I can tell you.
Sketch is acrylic on hardboard -
12.25in x 7.75in.
