Original Acrylic: "Mount Ngauruhoe" Volcanic Landscape
|
Mt Ngauruhoe (7515 feet) is one of three volcanoes in National Park on the Central North Island Plateau.
It is still active, having steam coming from its crater on most days, although it has not erupted with any force for many years.
Most of this painting was done in situ from a ridge on Mount Ruapehu, painted on a broken piece of hardboard found under the Taraua Tramping Club Hut at the Top O' The Bruce where we were staying.
Oils on Board. Overall size 26" x 22".
